Your caption on the "savethemales" link is inaccurate (the black man in this case, is doing the right thing) -- it's about elites in the legal profession who participate in perverted sexual acts (man offering his wife to black man). It sounds like the stuff that went on in the last days of Rome.
The more stable an infrastructure, the more depraved a society can afford to become. Until it reaches a point where the ability to maintain and improve the infrastructure is lost somehow (usually, through outright sloth and laziness).
Ironically, video games have kept unemployed urban young men indoors rather than having them go out and socialize and form street gangs. Amusing ourselves to death might make a more compliant and sheepish population, but it provides some benefits I suppose (though this might be temporary, something akin to giving free bread and circuses).
