I'm trying to put myself in their shoes and imagine what my perception would have to be like if I took until 2010 to reach these same conclusions. I would guesstimate my mind to be something akin to blackstrap molasses running down a tree. Incredibly, glacially, slow. If I squint and see how they would have finally been prompted to make these deductions based on recent events, it seems to me they would be extremely loathe to think much about anything.
Oil is abiotic. There was never any shortage. The only shortage has been the brains to tap more of it. What you get with a shortage like that caused by dullards will be the second easiest conflict resolution to seek and that is war for the particularly common mind. War is not coming over peak oil. War is coming over peak brains.

See, after following your blog now and then, I see two contradictory possibilities, espoused by others and sometimes by you.
- The establishment has people who know about magnetic reversals, abiotic oil,.etc, but deliberately suppress it, except for important members to know.
- The establishment is really too stupid to know the facts, and everybody is groping in the dark.
So which one is it? Could it be somewhere in between? I'd welcome some answer. I do know that Carter deliberately suppressed a finding of government-funded research that North America has 4000 years worth of natural gas, and started another research for politically correct conclusions. But then again, acting on that information is easily more lucrative, no?

Psychopaths are not smart in the sense of cognitive ability. They are just unburdened of emotion and empathy for others. When they control large bodies of a culture's resource acquisition they of course fail. Like in all empires before the rise of the psychopath is the downfall of the society because those who recognise the trait of psychopathy and have the fierce loyalty to truth fight them on all fronts. There's nothing a psychopath hates more than someone who recognises them for what they are - not quite human.
