This was the worldwide seafaring language of the empire used by melonheads before they were overturned and the slave revolts created a multiplicity of languages.
As has been pointed out elsewhere, the greatest variations in language occur directly in proportion to drop in native intelligence ... as people get dumber, unable to master the language their parents spoke they have few other options but to invent new forms they can comprehend. This leads to language drift.
2200cc brains don't have a problem mastering the existing language and no need to invent a replacement for what they find works perfectly well just the way it is.
