I don't think he's correct. I've seen people holding nuclear fuel pellets and uranium doesn't spontaneously catch on fire when exposed to air. They did need water to keep it cool and if heated it may combust but I'm not sure about that. It's bound to have cooled down from it's initial state. He's probably right about the company making a big mess of things.
