It's the theater of the absurd: the government trying to prevent people from accessing the public square, while not really shutting down (the military, NSA, spying, police state activities are not slowing down or stopping). Only things that hurt or inconvenience citizens are affected.
However, people are also going to realize that life goes on: that Big Brother is not necessary for life to go on.
I think that people are tired of the charade: whatever the evil bastards have planned next to try to bamboozle the people is in the works. Bring it on. Chaos is the friend of freedom, more than the friend of tyranny, in the end. Centralized control cannot adapt fast enough.
"That party (Democrats) is also responsible for an unsustainable welfare state where half the U.S. population pays zero income taxes but consumes hundreds of billions yearly in social welfare benefits."
I wonder if this is an attempt to permanently "furlough" as many public programs as possible in one shot. Congress gets to mothball a ton of shit without actually having to take the political damage involved in voting to close them down. *shrug* sounds pretty hair brained, but then again, this is congress.
