I keep thinking I need to put a lighter color on the inner wall of my shelter every time I see these hospital-sterile looking environments. I want to find a natural oil based paint to use for this.

Mine's not as nice, but it will function just as well.
There's something evil in the air right now. If you try posting opposing positions on left-wing forums or any forum that just happens to have a large left-wing membership you are going to get hit hard with accusations of trolling, you are going to get flamed, they will show complete disrespect for you as a person. Just look at any forum with left-wingers and people posting opposition: You will see some serious nastiness from left-wingers, without really any of the same nastiness from their opponents.
Also, there are reports of violence (both sides blame each other) between opponents at the various federal "town halls" throughout the United States.
I personally don't know where to point the finger, but I think both sides are wrong about lots of things, so I'm not wanting to assist either one. Still, it's scary.
Some of those interiors look like sets from the Terry Gilliam movie Brazil. I agree that if you don't want to feel like a lab rat you need some softer tones and homelike touches. I actually believe that the thing most likely to stop you going postal during a prolonged stay in a bunker would be a good selection of music.
G'Day Tex, Any chance of a few pic updates on the Vault progress? Also when do you recon you might have vault-os uploaded to sourceforge? I'm really hanging out to have a play with it, my stores are starting to get out of control and I'm really looking forward to the inventory side of it!! If it matters at all I have a terminal server sitting there waiting to have a play with it ;) Thanks for the good work you do with this site, you always seem to find quite a few articles that I seem to miss. BTW I bought those two books by Robert Felix..... WOW... they really show things in a different light .... much clearer thinking than the cr@p being pushed on us the main stream media...... Cheers
I will be doing some work not this but next week on the shelter and will be posting some new pics of the current Vault-OS system as soon as I get it working. I have been doing a rebuild of the boot executable and it is not down at the moment.
I need to get my inventory program running again desperately myself so something has to give soon.

That wasn't erotic at all!
That reminds me, how's your permaculture lab and general vault expansion going?
