"It's quietest right before the storm," applies to solar maximum events moreso. A period of extended dormancy like the one we have seen 2004-2008 bodes ill indeed for the magnitude to be expected in what NASA says may be "the mother of all solar maximums" in 2010-2012.
Remember in 2004 when Vault-Co told you that the magnetic shield would spring leaks during exceptional solar cycles, resulting in naked lethal radiation hitting random spots of the planet like an extermination beam from outer space? The Vault-less do not stand a chance during these kinds of events. It is likely that previous generations of human beings charted these cycles precisely for these reasons and made certain to keep strict records of when the next cycle would occur. Did the Mayans come up with that date on their calendar themselves? Or did their white-skinned, red haired, blue-eyed "god" who "came from across the sea in a reed boat" teach them that?
When I designed my blast shelter Firehold Bravo in 1998, I tried to incorporate elements in it's design that would make it proof not just against fallout from a nuclear war or a volcanic ash eruption but also safe against the kind of broad spectrum radiation that occurs when the earth's magnetic shield fails. This is why I built extremely inconvenient entrances into the shelter. My family would have much preferred a staircase into the interior but I knew that in order to build the ultimate Vault I would have to make certain the entryways could be absolutely sealed from even reflected radiation like you might expect from a neutron bomb.

White Adamic Race humans built the South American cities and taught the natives civilization, when they left the Mayan Indians took control and everything degenerated until The Spainards learned of the inheritence waiting to be collected on the other side of the world, they knew the legend and timed their return as the great White God's, the rest is history.
Tex, I'd really love to hear as much as you're comfortable divulging about the operations of your vault. It's been a while since you posted any progress on the vault itself. some of us might benefit from an article of that nature.

Incidentally, Trueaim, what you just said is the premise of the book of mormon. that 'second bible' the Mormons hold as true scripture. White adamic men leaving jerusalem before the babylonian captivity (600bc), and establishing a nation in the americas. After much prosperity they fell into idolatry and left the path of god. another group of dark-skinned people made war with them and anihilated them, took their cities and their world, and fell into barbarism. The reccord of this was taken north and hidden in a cache in a hill where joseph smith would find and translate it 2500 years later. of course, it contains much spiritual info and goes hand-in-hand with the teachings of the bible. But as historical timeline material, well, there you have it in a nutshell.
