This is Nuclear War ABM Defense For Ships
I knew they were working on stuff like this. They have no choice, they have got to make some kind of effort to be relevant when World War III breaks out.
The phalanx was obsolete. With this upgrade it gives a ship a prayer of surviving amidst a sky filled with nuclear cruise missiles. This plus a decent traversal rate could actually stop missiles from getting in close enough to land direct hits without being intercepted. In the absence of improved defenses like this, the navy is just a bunch of scrap metal on the bottom of the ocean ten minutes after the next war begins.
Of course, the Chinese will recognize this strategy and simply detonate their cruise missiles earlier or just as they approach range. It is a better defense for navy ships but hardly a formidable one. The cruise missiles we are talking about are traveling at twenty times the speed of sound or better. If you sneezed you'd be dead before you could ask the radar man what that glitch is on his screen.

The best weathervane is to have a good hard look at the opposite of what they are advocating, whatever it is. That's how stupid people in the modern world are. If our ancestors believed the opposite was true and upon examining the counter-arguments of the modern herd you realize they don't actually have any arguments to speak of ... then go with the time-tested wisdom of our ancestors and ignore everything else you hear from modern people. It's all the opposite of true.
I had a recent blood test (at age 47) and got the results back. According to the physician's desk reference I am a perfectly healthy newborn infant between the age of 18 and 24 months. My triglycerides are like those of a baby still in the womb. The people at the lab originally thought the whole thing was a joke and refused to believe the blood they were looking at was of a man nearly a half-century old. This despite being overweight and even having high blood pressure, at least at the time the blood was taken. My doctor was of the opinion that I was biologically a five year old with some premature gray hair who needed to lose some weight. He said he didn't see any of the conventional signs of aging present in me. In fact, he commented on my quick wit and agile conversation and said I didn't seem like a 47 year old man at all even in my speech and response time. He told me he had treated men of my age who were ready to be fitted for Ziff frames and who were already so senile they were doddering. More than anything else he said, I gave the impression of being a large big-headed infant in the bloom of life.
I have gone in a different direction from everybody else in life, in all things. Needless to say, I am a contrarian and it is starting to show the older we all get. For example, I have been eating ridiculous amounts of protein my entire life. It does not appear to have affected me in the way that the other 6 billion people on the planet told me it would. This turned out to be yet another thing they were completely spaced out about. They got it wrong. They got it wrong, for fifty years, it would seem.
Just remember, 99% of everything in this world is bullshit from absolute morons. In fact, this statement is one of the few things you can say out loud that is not rubbish. I'm just the messenger, so don't blame me. It's not like I had anything to do with it. That's simply the way the world is, at least at the moment. Don't ask me why everything is topsy-turvy or why people seem like they have a homing instinct for gibberish and an aversion to reality. I would not have been able to make up a dystopian nightmare like this as a science fiction story even if I tried to make it as outlandish as possible. You couldn't make this stuff up.

U.S. Admits It Will Soon Be Devoured By Nyarlathotep
... actually, that's the upbeat, feelgood hit of the summer outcome. At least if they are absorbed by Nyarlathotep they will have reliable day jobs and be debt-free.
The real situation is much worse.
Nyarlathotep was apparently considering absorbing the U.S. into his black maw until he checked out their credit rating and decided he didn't want any part of it. Nyarlathotep has moved to another space-time continuum as a result and is no longer answering phone calls from the United States. Actually, Nyarlathotep is plagued with bad dreams about the 'Kwa he wakes up screaming from in the middle of the night and is on heavy medication as a result. He compulsively draws strange silouhettes of Uncle Sam that fill his journals and is unable to express why this image is so disturbing.

Illuminati Starting Phase II : Sour Grapes?
A perfect time to release biological agents given the chaos caused by natural changes to the climate and planet. Nobody will be able to figure out where this came from or how, given all the other agricultural trouble spots emerging everywhere. Throwing gasoline onto a fire to assure these natural failures are augmented sufficiently to create a very hungry population, eager for the tenets of new world order marxism and only too happy to surrender completely.
Note there is no better place to disperse an agent than in the farmlands of the Missippi river bottom. Perfect place to plant it if it is carried by wind, you could rapidly wipe out a large part of the American harvest.
Things aren't going as planned. None of them were expecting the Euro to tank and the European Union to vanish down the toilet bowl of history. Swine flu (despite their best efforts) was a complete bust, even after deliberately spraying it in the Ukraine. Last of all and most important, their entire globalwarmthinkery scheme blew up in their faces last year in Copenhagen after two decades of social engineering. They got lax when they thought they had the touchdown for sure and they lost the whole game. They're angry, they are pissed off and now they are going to start playing rough.
These people are truly sore losers. Don't be shocked if a lot of terrible things start to happen. They are turning to plan B to try to up the ante a little.

The Interglacial Is Over
What did Vault-Co know ten years ago?
That's easy. Read the link above and look at the chart. We were thinking about the implications a decade ago.
Even a casual projection of the trend makes it obvious where we are in all this.
We're at the end. What goes down, won't be coming back up again for a long time. We're at the peak of a peak of a peak and this rollercoaster car has now crested the summit and it is headed back down for a long glacial period.
The interglacial is now at an end. We are headed back into the cyclic glacial period. All the natural forces that made our civilization possible are now changing back to their "normal" state, which makes our civilization impossible.
Our ancestors in the 1950's got it right. The people who came after them and lost the plot were clowns. They got it right in the fifties and the world should have planned accordingly. We were headed into a new Ice Age and they knew it fifty years ago.
