St. Louis was a beautiful city before it got enriched. It had that lovely quality that is acquired by places where lots of whites formerly lived that just seems to bake into the surroundings by osmosis. Tip of the Iceberg Underwater
There really is nothing new under the Sun.
This has all happened before. It may happen again and again in the future. All of our "myths" are recollections of things that actually happened and could only be retained through oral traditions.
What would really clinch it is finding ancient satellites in orbit or a lander on the Moon or Mars from a previous civilization. Some people think they already have and it's one of the world's worst kept secrets.

A basic Vault-Co premise is that people in declining civilizations approaching the end know this subconsciously and their instincts are geared to anaesthetize them so they feel no real pain when they perish. I figure if you are one of the Remnant and live at one of these historical junctures, you're going to have some very odd experiences trying to communicate with the damned around you. Basically, no common context with any of these people, who mostly want to watch spectator sports, drink beer and avoid any contact with reality altogether.

Hiroshima has long since recovered and prospered. Amerikwa is starting to look like the entire country was nuked and has never recovered.
Who betrayed that nation from the inside? Something like that doesn't happen by accident. The sheer speed in forty years boggles the mind. From the world's largest creditor to bankrupt porno capital of the planet.
